I am very excited to be able to go to a Spanish-speaking country and exercise not only my second language, but also learn a great deal about the world outside the U.S.

Background

I am a Mathematics/Spanish major and a sophomore at Alma. I am the kicker on the Alma College Football team. I work for the Explore After School Program, and am excited to work with children in Ecuador helping to develop an after school program that future Alma EDC students can participate in. I currently commute from Ithaca. I drive a little blue Honda Civic that has 270,000 miles on it. If you would like to buy it from me I will gladly trade it for a good lunch, or $10. I love to being outdoors and being active. I have two sisters, Kate, who is 23, and Mary, who is 13.

Roommates

I will be roomming with two other people on this trip and they are:

Expectations

The things that I hope to get out of the trip are:

  • Better knowledge of the Ecuadorian culture
  • Become more fluent in Spanish
  • Be able to bring my strengths into Ecuador and help with their weaknesses
  • To see some pretty killer sites and sceneries

My Trip Project

I am not only going to Ecuador to become culturally diverse, but also to offer what I have to the people of Ecuador. I am a Mathematics and Spanish major and want to teach this to children in "Los Estados Unidos". My main project that I will be compilling while I am in Ecuador will be the educational needs of the ecuadorian children. Hopefully I will be able to set up a program, much like this one, that allows education students to go to ecuador to work in the schools and improve the quality of education.
