Lauren and I woke up this morning and had fresh melon, fresh pineapple, and fresh lemon juice for breakfast. She actually didn’t have anything besides tea because she had become ill throughout the night. Many students in our class have begun to get stomach aches and vomit or have diarrhea. Our best guess as to why this is happening is because of the water, but we don’t understand why it would take so long for it to happen. Because Lauren was feeling ill we took a taxi to school. We didn’t end up leaving the house until almost 8 am and it made me very nervous because I still had homework to finish. We ended up getting to the school at about 8:15 am and I had a few minutes to write in the rest of my answers. I didn’t get to study for my exam and that made me upset. I was really hoping to pull of a good grade. When class began at 8:30 am there was a general feeling of excitement in the air. It was sunny and warm and the last day of class. (For most of the people at least.) During my first two hours of class we corrected our homework, practiced orally for the exam, and took the exam. During the break many students and I enjoyed a snack while soaking in the sun rays. During the last two hours of class for me we corrected our tests (I only missed 7 in total) and played a game with the other class. It was again a competition, but this time it wasn’t between boys and girls. We simply split up into two groups of three. Today’s game was very fun and competitive. We were given a letter and had to name several different things. Some of the categories were a person’s name, a country or city, a verb, an adjective, a food, a thing, and a movie. We had a very good time racing against the other team and it was good practice of our Spanish. As usual at 1 pm class ended and we went to lunch. The only difference about today is that we had an awards ceremony before lunch. For lunch we ate a rice mix and fried bananas. For desert we had chocolate cake. After we were finished eating we were briefed on the weekend trip to Cotopaxi. After the briefing there was a meeting for those in charge of the travelogue for this week and everyone else was able to do as they wished for their free afternoon. I heard some students talking about going to a zoo. I heard other students talking about going shopping for a guitar. The afternoon varied for each person. My afternoon, after the meeting, was spent very leisure like. Lauren and I went to the internet café to use the computers and the phones. I called both my mother and my boyfriend. After the internet café Lauren and I walked the rest of the way home stopping at little stores along the way. I bought six DVDs at a DVD store. They were only two dollars a piece. We got home at around 5:30 pm and put “She’s the Man” in. After we finished that movie we put in “13 Going on 30” for awhile until dinner was ready at about 8 pm. For dinner we had chicken soup, green beans, noodles, and water. Our host mom told us that there is an area code here. Apparently it is 593. After dinner we packed lightly for the weekend and finished the movie before we called it a day.
