Expectations
The things that I hope to get out of the trip are:
- An understanding of how well off we have it here and appreciate that more
- Learn some spanish
- An understanding of a different culture
- Take in the scenery
Personal Project
For this, I plan on using research (also found while doing my group project Political and Cultural History with Will Allen) and pictures taken on the trip for a cross cultural learning experience for my students in History classes later on down the road. I plan to look into the colonization and recent changes in the Ecuadorian culture that have made it the way it is today. The museums and monuments we will be visiting will be a huge help in recieving the information I need, as well as talking to my host family and possibly professors at the Academia Latinoamericana.
