I am very excited about leaving North America. I have been all over this continent, but never to another one. I can't wait to go out and see what else this world has to offer! I figured I should take advantage of these types of opportunities while I can.

Background
I just completed my Sophmore year at Alma College and I am a Biology major, and a Spanish minor. I plan on going to Medical School and becoming a pediatrician. I commute to Alma from Mt. Pleasant, and it's honestly not that far! I have an older brother who I am very close to. He is my best friend and I am so lucky to have the relationship that we have. He is in the army and has served over in Iraq and could be called back anyday. He is now engaged and his finacee is pregnant and is supposed to have the baby while we are gone, which I am sad about, but I am excited that I am finally going to be an aunt! I have many good friends and a wonderful roommate Katelin. I like being active, working out, downhill skiing, swimming, tubing, and am always up for new things. I also love to lay out in the sun, and of course travel! I am going to be working two jobs this summer trying to make as much money as possible, because everyone knows that college students are broke. I am rooming with Laura McKendry and I know it's going to be a great time!!
Expectations
- Perfect my spanish speaking skills
- Meet new people
- Learn about new and different cultures
- See what Quito has to offer
- Make wonderful memories
- Have a FUN time
Individual Project
I want to take as many pictures and get as much information on the animals that I see in the Galapagos Islands. I plan on making a PowerPoint Presentation or making a book showing all the animals that I saw, what their habitat is, what they eat, their scientific name, and all that good stuff. I think it will be interesting to see all the animals on the islands because most of them are specific to that area only. So, you can't see them anywhere else in the world! I think this project will be cool as a reminder of the trip to the Galapagos, but also to show others what I encountered.
