Holistic Medicine

This morning, Gayle Seals, Angie Szatkowski, Lauren Brotsky, and Will Allen visited a bath-house site.

  • First, you sit in a wooden chamber covered with plastic tarp.
  • Then, with your head poking through the top, hot steam is pumped into the chamber.
  • Every five minutes, for forty minutes, cold water is poured onto your body.
  • Afterwards, you air-dry yourself--in fact, it is preferred that you put your clothes on while wet!

The underlying treatment is that toxins within the body are brought out with hot steam, then washed away with the cold water.

Indigenous School

Members of the Education group also visited an indigenous school. This was intended as a comparison to the Terra Nova private school outside of Quito. Please see their site.
